CITY OF TORRANCE: Community Lead Officers Assist Homeless Individuals and Clean-Up

On Monday, October 29, 2018, Torrance Police Community Lead Officers culminated a project at Osage Park and the 405 Freeway embankment that involved homeless outreach and extensive environmental clean-up. In early 2017, Community Lead Officers began responding to reports of large encampments, damages to both City and State property, and hazardous environmental conditions. The Torrance Police Department partnered with the City of Torrance Special Multi-Agency Response Team (SMART) to provide a new fence line, and Caltrans District 7 to clean the surrounding area. At the conclusion, over 20 people were offered housing resources through the County of Los Angeles.
