DUI Checkpoint In Manhattan Beach This Weekend

The Manhattan Beach Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. The checkpoint will be conducted in partnership with the California Office of Traffic Safety.

“The purpose of the checkpoint is to promote public safety, increase the awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving, and deter impaired driving and unlicensed driving,” the Manhattan Beach Police Department said.

Funding for this checkpoint is provided to the Manhattan Beach Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, police said. The intent of the checkpoint is to encourage sober designated drivers.

“Our ‘Zero Tolerance’ approach to enforcement sends a clear message to those who still don’t heed the warning to designate a sober driver before celebrations begin,” police said. “Simply put, ‘If you are over the legal limit, you will be arrested.'”

MBPD encourages the public to help keep roadways safe by calling 9-1-1 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
